The Burton at Bideford is looking for a new Director(s) to provide strategic, artistic, operational and commercial leadership to the organisation.

We are The Burton at Bideford, an art gallery and museum based in the historic town of Bideford, North Devon. We are a vibrant and family-friendly cultural hub, a creative destination that can both inspire and challenge. We are a community venue for everyone to love and access freely.

The Role

As a proud National Portfolio Organisation (NPO), The Burton is seeking new leadership that inspires and motivates our community, blends practicality and vision, and brings a strong balance of creativity and commercial acumen.

As we move into an exciting moment for the local area and the gallery, we are encouraging applications for either a single director or a co-directorship job share model.

The Director(s) will provide strategic, artistic, operational and commercial leadership to the organisation and the dedicated and talented team of staff and volunteers.

Key responsibilities include working with Trustees and staff on strategy, business planning and operations; overseeing the curatorial direction of exhibitions, events, education and engagement; building and maintaining key partnerships regionally, across the UK and abroad; and leading on fundraising and income generation.

Potential candidate(s) may already be in a similar role or be ready to take the next step in their careers. Experience of working within the cultural sector will be a distinct advantage, although character, commitment and the ability to build trust and loyalty matter just as much.
