ROOTS: The Burton Box of Treasure

With Paschale Straiton of Red Herring

10am-4pm | FREE

Burton 2101

To celebrate our 75th anniversary, we are looking ahead at what the next 75 years might look like for The Burton, taking us to the year 2101. To inform a long-term strategy for our work, we are organising four artist-led events inviting you to join the conversation and share your ideas on our past, present and future.

ROOTS: The Burton Box of Treasure
with Paschale Straiton of Red Herring.

We are kicking off our 75th Anniversary with a celebration of The Burton’s Treasure – the valuable and delightful things that we prize the most from the gallery and museum.

Performance artist Paschale Straiton will be leading an investigation into the pressing questions that reveal the roots of The Burton’s work – what is the oldest object to be found in the collection? Which artwork shown in the gallery has come with the highest insurance premium? What tools could our curators not do without and why?

We’d love to know what you cherish about The Burton, whether that be a physical object or a memory, and the questions that you have. The Burton Box of Treasure is open for one day only, so come down and get hands on!
