R.J. Lloyd was born in Hereford on the Winter Solstice in 1926. At two, his family moved to Dawlish Warren in South Devon, a region that profoundly influenced his life and work.
Growing up in a seaside town, Lloyd spent his childhood exploring beaches, rocks, and Dartmoor’s stone circles, experiences that later shaped his artistic vision.
Though largely self-taught, he attended part-time classes at Exeter School of Art after serving in the army. From 1956, Bideford became his home and studio.
This memorial exhibition offers a glimpse into Lloyd’s artistic journey, showcasing a selection of his works that highlight the evolving themes and transitions in his career.
Free entry.
