During this three-hour session, participants will carve out their own wooden spoon from a pre-axed ‘blank’ using sustainably felled green wood. Tutor Samuel Alexander will mindfully guide participants through authentic knife grips used for centuries.
First, participants will hollow their spoon bowls using a provided hook knife before focusing on creating satisfying peeling shavings to sculpt their very own heirloom. Participants will learn to practice knife skills independently at home whilst being able to work sensitively with wood grain to achieve a smooth knife finish.
