Learn Japanese bookbinding techniques with Megan Stallworthy of Celandine books.
Japanese-style books are elegant and practical bindings, ideal for artists and printmakers working with the book form, or for anybody who would like to make their own sketchbook or notebook. On this workshop we will make 4 different Toji binding styles, (four hole, noble, tortoise shell and hemp leaf) all housed within a Hako Chitsu, a traditional Japanese folding case, which is covered in cloth, lined with decorative paper and finished with bone clasps. All the tools and materials will be supplied.
