Judith Gentry – Chair of the Burton. 

Judith’s initial career was in the retail sector where she held senior executive positions primarily for FTSE 100 companies. After working as a freelance Retail Consultant coach in Europe, Judith developed a third career as a psychotherapist launching her own coaching business ‘Thriving Ivy’. Judith has a love of travel and exploration and also enjoys writing poetry, diaries and the idea of a novel always on the go.

Stephen Harding – Burton at Bideford Trustee and Non-Executive Director for Burton Enterprises

Before retiring in 2013, Stephen spent his whole career working in local government in Finance and General Management. Spending the last five years at Torridge District Council as Chief Accountant. Passionate about gardening he also volunteers as RHS Rosemoor and also enjoys painting watercolours.

Celia Merrill – Company Secretary and Trustee Administrator

Registered Nurse; Nutritional Therapist and a Trustee and Chair of Appledore Book Festival are just a few of Celia’s former professions and voluntary roles. Now a business owner of Inkwells Office Solutions, providing bookkeeping, PA and administrative services. Celia has a love of the Arts and nature, Devon life is her muse; poems and prose have been known to pour forth spontaneously. She enjoys singing and gardening but has yet to learn to paint.

Ben Liddell – Burton at Bideford Trustee

Ben spent the first ten years of his career in advertising, publishing and print before joining Petroc College North Devon as a lecturer, tutor and ultimately programme manager for their Foundation Studies in Art and Design.  Now retired, Ben actively takes on commissions in graphic design, illustration and photography.

Tim Ireson – Burton at Bideford Trustee

Following a career in educational leadership, advisory, coaching and consultancy roles, Tim and his wife have recently relocated to North Devon. With a lifelong interest in and appreciation of the arts, he recognises the quality and diversity of provision at the Burton. His growing range of interests includes supporting local cultural events, gardening, attempting to rekindle long lost painting skills. As a linguist who is fond of French food, he can often be found in the Cafe du Parc!

Ian Huggett – Burton at Bideford Trustee

Chartered Accountant and tax extraordinaire, Ian is a partner at local firm Thomas Westcott Chartered Accountants. Enjoying a vast variety of music he is part of a local choir, in the past, Ian has also played the Viola for the University of London Union Orchestra as well as the Devon Country Youth Orchestra.

Christine (Chris) Erwood – Burton at Bideford Trustee

Chartered tax advisor, Chris has spent her long career in the taxation profession with HMRC, big four London accountancy firm, and top 100 FTSE companies. An experienced Trustee, she is keen to ‘give back’ to her local community, which is why she’s enthusiastic and committed in her support of the Burton at Bideford.
