Join us for a talk by the historian Dr John Callow, the author of The Last Witch Trial of England: A Tragedy of Sorcery and Superstition. Come along to hear about the witch hunts in England and Britain in general, and the Bideford Witches in particular, discovering the little-known truths, cultural complexities, fears, beliefs and unfortunate coincidences that led to witchcraft accusations.
This talk marks the opening of the Bideford Witches Trail, an audio experience where listeners follow an accessible walk along the Quay and through Bideford’s streets, while hearing the haunting, tragic tale of the Bideford Witches.
Dr John Callow’s talk on the Bideford Witches will be on Friday 25 October 2024 from 6pm to 8pm. Tickets are free but must be booked via the gallery or the Eventbrite link above.
