Burton Futures Bursaries: Call for Applications!
Burton Futures, our award-winning art education programme, is once again open for applications from schools.

Burton Futures was established in March 2025 in response to feedback from teachers about the increasing economic barriers local schools face in connecting young people to world-class art as part of their education. As well as funding continuing professional development (CPD) sessions for teachers and travel bursaries for rural schools to visit The Burton and take part in artist workshops, the scheme runs The Burton Art Box - a converted horse box that travels to rural schools as a camera obscura, connecting science and art curriculums.
The scheme is now entering it's second year, and are inviting applications from schools for both our Travel Bursaries and our Art Box Visits.
This year, we are particularly keen to support more groups to visit The Burton, to take full advantage of the three gallery spaces, the museum and artist-led workshops. With an exhibition schedule including a hands-on interactive ceramics studio, prints and sculpture by David Nash, the varied and interesting Friends of The Burton exhibition and ceramics exhibitions next year, there is plenty to excite and inspire younger visitors.
There are two bursaries on offer:
Art Box Bursary: We bring The Burton Art Box to your school, for a day of artist-led workshops.
Travel Bursary: We provide a bursary to support travel to The Burton, a tour of the exhibition and an artist-led workshop that links to it.
Please use the links below to find out more and to apply. The deadline is 25 September.
