The inspirational work of Wilhelmina Barns-Graham forms the starting point for this one day workshop. Design and create a panel 12" x 8" by learning techniques that apply to the "direct method" of mosaic making. The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with some previous experience. If possible students should bring tile nippers, and eye protection (safety goggles). Other materials will be provided at an additional cost of £5 per person, made payable to the tutor on the day. Kathy Badcock is a mosaic and textile artist, represented in the Burtons Craft Gallery and leads workshops throughout the South West.

10am - 4pm £30
Open to all, this workshop responds to the exhibition by abstract painter Wilhelmina Barns-Graham. After looking at the exhibition and techniques employed, the group will spend the morning drawing and sketching in the local environment and landscape as a source of inspiration for painting. These sketches will then be developed into paintings during the rest of the workshop. Students will need to bring a sketchbook, pencils, pens, rubber, a range of acrylic or watercolour paints, including black and white, a range of brushes and a jam jar. All other materials will be provided at an extra cost of £1, payable to the tutor on the day. Please also bring clothes suitable for sketching in the outdoors. Miriam McCurdy is a local artist and adult & community teacher.
