Artist in Residence – focusing on the ceramics collections

The Burton at Bideford would like to support an Artist in Residence to develop a contemporary project reflecting our collection.

We would like the successful applicant to reflect, from a contemporary perspective, on the ideas that inspired the making of the items as well as the craft practices involved. For example, this could take the form of a project which considers the legacies and current relevance of local ceramic making, or how the Museum collections came to be formed. These include the RJ Lloyd Collection of north Devon slipware and ceramic items within the Burton’s collection.

This creative exploration will result in work/s that will have the potential to become part of the permanent collection, form part of our exhibition programme 2020/2021, lead a new series of educational and community workshops and form part of the schools programme.

For further information please contact: The Burton at Bideford, Kingsley Road, Bideford, EX39 2QQ or call 01237 471455
